Mathilde Satisfied with the Work Environment in Garment Industry

Mathilde Marie Christine, the Queen of Belgium, visited the Knit Composite Manufacturing Company Fakir Apparels Limited in Narayanganj on Monday, February 6.

 

The Queen of Belgium is currently on a three-day visit to Bangladesh as an advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations.

 

In the afternoon, Queen Mathilde reached Fakir Apparels. Reporters from several European media accompanied the Queen during her visit. She visited the different parts of the factory, including the corporate building, production house, daycare centre, and others.

 

The women workers of the factory gifted a t-shirt that was made at the production house to the Queen. With the help of an interpreter, Queen Mathilde talked with the workers.

 

 

Mohammad Hatem, the executive president of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Faruque Hassan, the president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Fakir Moniruzzaman, the managing director of Fakir Apparels, DMD Nafijuzzaman, Directors Fakir Rafsanuzzaman, and Munjarin Jaman were among those present during the visit of the Queen.
 

 

Describing the Queen’s visit as a positive thing for the garment industries, BKMEA and BGMEA leaders praised her visit as making a great contribution to the branding of Bangladeshi garment factories.

 

The queen was pleased after introducing and witnessing the facilities provided to workers, particularly women workers.
